The departure of the soldiers in the 28th Geographic Group left a wasteland and many abandoned buildings in the heart of the town of Joigny.
The town was built up and developped around this land and studies showed the potential for the development of a service industry park and housing capable of reconnecting the adjacent quarters.
The scenario chosen offers a wide opening onto the landscape of the Yonne Valley with vocabulary borrowed from that of a traditional city with networks of automobile and pedestrian traffic largely knit on the site as a whole, and connected to the surrounding roads and above all a dense network of pedestrian walkways made up of boulevards, squares, streets, alleys and lanes.
