The Park du Méandre bears both an ambitious and promising new vision of nature in the city. It calls into question the urban ecosystem and its relationship to man.
The ecological approach does not detract from the uses, it offers many more.
This urban park guides the uses in the city, attaching them to the landscape and acts as a landmark.
It is conceived as a tapestry of large ecological and urban entities that compose a North-South promenade from the Hautil forest towards the banks of the Seine, creating a link between the East and West sectors (new and old), through an area of cohabitation town/nature and man/animal.
By digging a thalweg, designing a line for water drainage, the project gives existence to the “quays”, promenades overhanging the foot of the buildings.
Then the functions appear, uses and events (crossings, games, artworks, pedagogy of the environment…) as well as the services for the ecosystemic for the town (management of rainwater, regulating the sections of urban heat…).
